Dear WVKA,
I’m sure many of you have already heard… the Provincial Government has mandated all indoor fitness centres, including martial arts schools, shut down for 2 weeks until we submit our COVID-19 safety plan and receive plan approval from a Vancouver Coastal Health medical officer. Since re-opening in June, our top priority has been our students’ safety and well-being. Our strict protocols have led to zero outbreaks at our school and I thank you all for doing your part and abiding by them. We are confident that once we submit our safety plan, we will receive approval to reopen.
As we wait for our safety plan’s approval, all classes will move to Zoom, with minor class time changes. These Zoom sessions will be limited to students who are currently enrolled in in-person training at the dojo, and students must attend their regular class time. Please see below for updated class time and Zoom information.
As for our upcoming belt/stripe testing, we are still planning to run testing as usual at the dojo at the end of the month (November 25th and 26th) – so please continue to train hard!
Thank you all for your patience and continued support through this unpredictable and challenging time. As karate practitioners, we are expected to be adaptable and resilient, and so we will get through whatever comes are way. Remember to stay focused on your goals and keep up the great work!
Please stay tuned for any updates or schedule changes, and please don’t hesitate to contact me directly if you have any further questions.
Thank you again,
Sensei Matt
