UPCOMING EVENTS (ALL DATES AND DETAILS TO BE CONFIRMED AND EMAILED IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS)
1) Parents Night Out (ages 6-12) – Students are invited to come hang out, enjoy a pizza dinner and snacks (provided), and play some games while parents get to have a night off! Stay tuned for details.
2) Golden League Skills Competition (ages 5-11) – Due to the pandemic we’ve held off running this event for the past couple of years and are very excited to get the ball rolling with this fantastic event once again. This event is perfect for beginners with an interest in some friendly competition. The skills competition tests participant’s speed, agility, accuracy, reaction time, muscular endurance, and we have a blast in the process.
3) Golden League Kumite Cup (ages 7-13) – Like our skills competition, we’ve held off with this event due to the pandemic but are pumped to get this going once again. Historically these events have played a significant role in developing our elite athletes and are the perfect balance of a competitive yet encouraging and supportive atmosphere. Most local tournaments are run as a single elimination event which can be intimidating and even demoralizing for first time athletes, but this event encourages multiple matches with a round robin format as well as championship rounds.
4) Competition Seminar with Burnaby Karate Academy (ages 11+) – This event is suitable only for athletes at the provincial level and is a great opportunity to alongside some of Canada’s top kumite athletes.
5) Leadership Training (ages 10+) – This event is for our current Senseis and Senpais and students interested in one day assisting classes. We will build on our past lessons and continue where we left off before summer break.
6) Training with WKF World Champion Douglas Brose (ages 11+) – Follow the link below for more information. This event is highly recommended for our competition team.
