KICKING OUT CANCER

KICKING OUT CANCER

Thank you so much for supporting our Kicking out Cancer Fundraiser. Together we successfully raised $3,155 to donate to the BC Cancer Foundation.

This donation is made in the name of Judy Bickel (Sensei Matt’s mother), who passed away only a couple months after West Van Karate Academy was first founded, after her 10-year battle with cancer. She embodied the karate spirit. She was courageous, kind, strong, wise, and beloved. I wish more people could’ve had the opportunity to know her. She would have been the dojo’s biggest supporter, and we know she is proud of what our dojo has become.

Thank you to all the warriors in this picture who came out to participate in our event. It was fun getting a chance to train with you all – you crushed it, and brought great vibes to the session. Your children would be proud!

A big thank you also to the many people who donated but were unable to attend the training session. Your support is greatly appreciated as well!

Photo credit to Sensei Connor, who came out to support. Also missing from the picture is Andrea Bradshaw (who came out to support despite being unable to participate due to injury), and Ellie who represented the student base!
