Dojo Announcements,
1) Remembrance Day
There will be no classes held on Tuesday November 11th in honor of Remembrance Day.
2) Testing
This month we will be holding stripe and belt examinations. Testing will take place Wednesday November 26th (Monday/Wednesday program), and Thursday November 27th (Tuesday/Thursday program). Please come prepared!
3) Buddy Month
November is ‘Buddy Month’, which means you can bring a friend for two weeks (4 classes) of training… For Free! The only things we would ask for in return from your guest is hard work, a good attitude, and a smile.
Each student currently training at West Van Karate Academy is permitted to bring up to two friends during this time.
Please contact us today if you have any questions.
4) Provincial Team
West Van Karate Academy is proud to announce that four students training in our teen classes have all qualified to represent team BC at this years karate Nationals held at the Richmond Olympic Oval. On the boys side we had Kyle Macmillan place first in his age category in the 16/17 year old black belt middle weight division, and Brendan Wise place first in his age category in the 14/15 year old black belt middle weight division. On the girls side we had Isabel Gallant place first in her age category in the 14/15 year old black belt heavy weight division, while Darbyanh Heenan placed first in her age category in the 14/15 year old black belt middle weight division.
Natasha Harland also competed this past year to earn a spot on the provincial team and finished in 4th place in the province for her division. Although only the top two athletes qualify to represent the province, Natasha did an exceptional job considering this was her very first season of competition!
Way to go everyone! This a fantastic result and great news for the dojo. Next stop… Nationals!
Stay tuned for upcoming announcements and events.
