With Summer winding down and school just around the corner (we hope), it’s time to prepare for the upcoming season!
First:
There will be NO CLASSES during the last week of August. We only take two holidays each year, so get the most out of this one and relax, focus, and spend time with family before we head back to school.
Second:
We are happy to announce that as of September 3rd, we will be launching our new Monday/Wednesday programs! The schedule is as follows:
- Lion Cubs (4-6 year olds) 4:00-4:45
- Little Lions (6-9) year olds) 4:45-5:45
- Lion Cubs (4-6 year olds) 5:45-6:30 ( due to several requests, we’ve added a second time for the Lion Cubs program to better suit those who’re unable to make it so quickly after school)
We are also currently looking at starting a program for women. Several mom’s have expressed interest in starting training, and hopefully will be able to soon. Dates and times will be announced shortly.
Third:
We will be having our Summer’s End BBQ on Monday, September 1st (Labor Day) at the dojo from 5-7pm. If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP to info@westvan-karate.com or call 604.314.5374. Hopefully everyone can make it. It would be wonderful to see everyone there! Also… we may or may not have a bouncy castle. We’re doing our best to make it happen, so keep your fingers crossed!
Please feel free to bring friends and family – the more the merrier.
Fourth:
As the public school system’s teacher strike situation is still looking quite dismal, we have decided to offer karate day camps to accommodate those parents who are looking for care for their children.
From September 8th-12th we will offer day camps running from 9-3pm. The cost for this camp will be $30/day and be limited to 20 students each day. This is open to all students, friends, and family. If you’re currently training in the 7-8pm class and are 14 or older, you’re invited to come and volunteer. It would be a huge help, a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours for career prep, and might even be just a little bit fun ;). Hope to see you there.
Enjoy the rest of your Summer!
