Hi all,
After receiving several requests, we have decided to start an online karate program via Zoom for all of our members. We’ll be running these classes to support those students unable to join us for in-person training.
Our online program will encourage physical activity for students, keep them engaged with a positive activity and help them to stay motivated. It will also be a great way to stay connected with friends from the dojo. Oh, and it will be fun as well! Training on our own can sometimes be difficult, but it can be made easier and more enjoyable when we can see our friends online training alongside us.
Schedule:
Lion Cubs (5-7 year olds)
3:30-3:55
Little Lions (8-12 year olds)
4:05-4:35
Cost: $45/month done via e-transfer (Please send e-transfer to: info@westvan-karate.com)
To register:
1) Send an email to: info@westvan-karate.com with your child’s age and experience level
2) Send an e-transfer to: info@westvan-karate.com for $45
In my opinion, nothing will replace in-person training at the dojo. However for the time being, online training is still a fantastic alternative solution that will still allow students to connect, engage with a positive activity, practice, and progress. Attendance will also be taken each day and counted towards stripe/belt testings.
Please read below for some reminders about what you will need for an effective ZOOM experience:
1) Have a streaming device ready, with the Zoom app installed.
2) Be sure to familiarize yourselves with Zoom before the first lesson (how to pin video, how to log in, mute and un-mute, etc.)
3) Aim to log-in 5 minutes before your lesson starts
4) Have enough space to move around a bit (2 square meters will be enough space)
5) Position your camera so your entire body is fully visible. This helps with giving feedback.
6) Have the follow equipment with you for each class: karate uniform; water bottle; stuffed animal or tennis ball; a belt, broom stick or piece of tape on the floor to use for agility training.
7) Bring your best attitude (focused, positive, and maximum effort) to each session! This makes a big difference with every training session, but is ESPECIALLY important for Zoom training.
Hope to see you online shortly!
