Fall Announcements #2

Fall Announcements #2

Hi everyone,

Wow, we can't believe we're already mid-way through October! Time flies.

Please read below for some upcoming events and announcements.

1) Jr. Competition Team Training

Interested in learning about the world of competition karate? Students aged 8-11 are invited to join us for some competition-focused training events.

These sessions will run 1-2 sessions monthly on Saturday mornings with the goal of educating students and preparing them for specific competition situations and scenarios. These sessions will also have a heavy emphasis on exhibition matches and kumite drills. Please note, these sessions are to be attended in addition to regular training sessions and not as makeup sessions for missed classes.

If interested in learning more about these sessions, please reply to this email. Further details will be shared with those who reply to this email.

2) Leadership program

Has your child ever expressed interest in being a senpai (assistant teacher), or are they currently assisting with classes but would like to learn more and take their understanding and experience to the next level? This program is designed to equip students with tools and teaching techniques for teaching and communicating effectively, while also developing confidence in public speaking, and managing a lesson.

This program is especially recommended for students currently assisting with classes, but also for any student interested in exploring this side of karate. If interested, please reach out for more information. We are aiming to begin these sessions in early November.

3) Halloween Karate

On Thursday October 30th - students are encouraged to wear their karate costume to the dojo. We'll be doing plenty of games, special activities and spooky challenges in each class!

Students ages 5-7 years old  - 3:30-4:15

Students ages 8-12 years old - 4:20-5:15

Regular karate sessions will resume starting 5:20-6:15

Students are welcome to attend these sessions even if regularly attending a different program.

4) Remembrance Day

Just a heads up the dojo will be closed Tuesday November 11th. Any student affected by the change is encouraged to arrange for a makeup session in another suitable program. Please have a look at our program schedule by following the link below:

5) Parents Night Out

We had a blast at our last Parents Night Out event, and are hoping to host another event Friday December 5th. We have yet to confirm the space for this event, so please stay tuned for our registration email for this fun event!

That's all for now. For more information regarding any of the above events, please feel free to contact me directly.

Warm regards,

Sensei Matt
