HALLOWEEN and KARATE
On Wednesday October 26th and Thursday October 27th Students are encouraged to come to the dojo in a Halloween costume! We will be running regular classes as usual but instead of wearing our regular uniforms students will have the option of sporting a costume. Classes on these days will emphasize games and just for fun skill competitions.
Please Note: Regular uniform and classes will be on for Monday October 31st.
WVKA HOODIES AND TSHIRTS
Due to several requests, this year we will be doing another order for West Van Karate Academy hoodies and tshirts. Typically we only do orders in the summer time, but this year students will have a chance to order either a hoodie or tshirt during the winter. Order forms will be sent out via email by the end of the week (Oct 21st) and must be submitted by November 15th at the latest to ensure arrival before Christmas break.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING CAMP
We will be holding a Sempai workshop for all students currently regularly assisting with or teaching classes. We will be going over general teaching principals as well as different scenarios/role-playing exercises during the workshop. Afterwards I would like to take everyone out for lunch! Stay tuned for more updates on dates/times.
UPCOMING COMPETITIONS
Sato Cup – Where: BCIT, When: Saturday November 12th, Time: TBA, Who: students orange belt and older who have already competed in at least two Golden League events
Golden League/Training – Where: St. David’s Church, When: Saturday November 19th, Time: TBA, Who: Students age 7-12 who are looking for an introductory tournament which focuses on teaching. First half of the day will be a competition-specific training, followed by competition after lunch.
