Spring and Summer Announcements 2026

Spring and Summer Announcements 2026

Hi everyone,

Please read below for our upcoming spring and summer announcements.

1) T-shirts - WVKA t-shirts may now be worn in lieu of regular karate uniform top and belt. These will be permitted from May-August. Our recent order was sent out on Friday, and students who placed an order should be receiving their items next week.

2) Nationals - Our competition team (including all our instructors) will be away competing at the Canadian Jr. National Championships in Edmonton from May 13th-17th, so the dojo will be closed during this time. Any student affected by closure (Wednesday 13th or Thursday 14th) is invited to attend a makeup class in any other suitable program. Please send our team positive vibes and wish us luck as we represent our dojo and British Columbia!

3) June karate bonanza - Students are invited to attend unlimited karate sessions for the month of June regardless of which membership they're currently registered with or program they're enrolled in. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends and get some extra training in. Hopefully we'll have many students taking advantage of this opportunity. Please check with us directly via email/text to see which extra programs are suitable, or check out our programs schedule below:

4) Golden League Skills Competition and Kumite Cup - Registration is now closed, and Saturday May 23rd is quickly approaching! We're looking forward to having everyone join us for these fun and exciting events. Let's continue training hard so we can do our best for the competition! Students registered for this event will be receiving a reminder email closer to the event.

5) Summer Camp - We're looking to run another summer camp this year with dates tentatively set for the either the week of July 6th or August 10th. The camp would run from 9am-2:00pm and be suitable for students ages 6-12 years old. IF INTERESTED IN ATTENDING, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS EMAIL as we will plan our camp based on participant interest.

6) Hike/Parkrun - It's good to get outside and exercise, and even better to do it with a group of dojo buddies! We're hoping to get out for a hike (Deep Cove - Quarry Rock), or hit up Ambleside Parkrun together. Stay tuned for more details on this. This event will be taking place in early June.

That's all for now. Have a great rest of the week!

Sensei Matt
