SUMMER REWIND

SUMMER REWIND

Wow, summer has flown by, and we’ve enjoyed every minute of it! We’re grateful to be able to create so many memories with you all.

Please take a moment to look back on some of our events and highlights over the past couple of months.

2023 Canadian National Championships

This was a big event for us, and for many the highlight event of the year. Our dojo brought back a total of 10 medals, and considering the level of this event, we are very proud of our entire team!

Gold – Timothy Hu

Silver – Annika Nikkolaisen, Johnson Jiang, Konnor Buchanan

Bronze – Helena Andres, Emily Chan-Sato, Malia Khodarahmi, Quinn Lester-Coe, Lucas Yu, Kaleigh Yang

5th place – Julian Hassan, Alexander Knickle, Connor Szeto, Keira Szeto, Amir Tajadoditaleb, Erik Boedker, Sean Chan-Sato

Coquitlam Crunch

It’s always a pleasure to get out and enjoy nature with karate friends. Great job to everyone (you too, parents!) for making it to the top of the mountain.

Movie Night

This event was a first for us, but it was a blast! We watched the original Karate Kid together and ate junk food… We feel it’s important that every karate kid should be educated on this classic karate film!

Anzhelika Terliuga Seminar

Many of our students had the opportunity to train with a karate legend. One of the most successful female karate athletes ever, Anzhelika Terliuga, conducted a wonderful seminar at BCIT Campus in Burnaby. It was informative, challenging, and fun. A great event for everyone involved!

Camp

We had a blast at our summer camp. These are always super fun and challenging for the participants, but man, what a difference they make! Everyone who attends leaves much stronger than when they first arrived.

JR. Panamerican Championships

We had three athletes from our dojo attend this year’s Jr. Panamerican Championships held in Santiago, Chile. Although no medals were brought home this time, all three athletes gained something more valuable – experience. Sometimes we win, and sometimes we learn. This is part of the journey, and we are so proud of our athletes! Well done to Timothy Hu, Lucas Yu, and Quinn Lester-Coe on their achievement in representing the Junior National Team.
