Winter Announcements

Hi everyone, Please take a moment to read our announcements for the next few months. Lots of exciting events and opportunities and important information!

1) Leadership Training workshop #2

We'll continue progressing through our Leadership Program workbook and stepping up the action! This workshop includes more hands-on teaching opportunities to help students grow confidence, leadership, and real teaching experience. For more information, please stay tuned for our separate email. Information will be shared with all students who attend our previous session. Anyone else interested in attending is asked to please reach out directly.

2) Competition grassroots seminar led with BC Team Senior Kumite Coach Sandeep Gill.

We’re excited to host a Grassroots Competition Seminar with BC Team Senior Kumite Coach Sandeep Gill! Designed specifically for students ages 8–9 and 10–11, this fun and high-energy session is a great opportunity to learn competition skills, build confidence, gain match experience, and get inspired by a top-level coach. Dates and more information will be sent in a separate email.

3) Competition program training schedule

We're officially back into the thick of it! With our first BC Team Selection event taking place this weekend, we're resuming our competition team training information. Sessions resume tonight from 8-9pm, and will run every Wednesday until March 11th.

4) January Stripe/Belt testing

Our first belt-testing of the year will be held at the end of the month on Wednesday January 28th, and Thursday January 29th. Please attend classes consistently and practice at home each week to ensure your best performance on testing day!

5) Parents Night Out

We’re excited to invite your child to our upcoming Parents’ Night Out at the dojo! This is a fun-filled evening designed to give parents a night off while students enjoy a safe, active, and social night with their karate friends. This is a great opportunity for students to build friendships, teamwork, and confidence - and for parents to enjoy a well-deserved evening out. More details about timing and registration will be shared soon. We hope your child can join us for this exciting night!

6) Spring Break Karate Camp

We're just starting to plan for our annual spring break karate camp and want to hear from you. We typically run camps during one week of the spring break, so we'd like to hear from you. Please reach out if you have a preference for which week you would prefer camp. We will do our best to accommodate the majority of those interested. We'll be finalizing the date for this camp within the next two weeks, so please let us know your preference before Friday January 16th. Stay tuned for more information!

Warm regards,

Sensei Matt
