2019 Recipient – Nika Nijafi – Kimnik Dojo

The Judy Bickel Memorial Scholarship is designed to promote higher education through financial support to current members of the KarateBC community.

This annual scholarship is funded by West Van Karate Academy in honor of Judy Bickel – Sensei Matt Bickel’s late mother.

Message from Sensei Matt:

“My mother was an extraordinary women. She was the rock of her family, provider, and ultimate role model. She lived her life in a way that positively impacted all who she connected with. Her kindness, generosity, wisdom, and strength were truly inspiring. Without ever directly having the opportunity to see our karate academy, she truly has single-handedly shaped the warm, welcoming, and kind atmosphere of our school.”

Scholarship amount: $750.00

Requirements:

Must be a grade 12 student planning to attend a post-secondary institution in full or part time capacity
Must be a current member of KarateBC
Must be a current BC Team or National team member in good standing

Applications will be reviewed by our Scholarship committee.

Scholarship winner will be announced at KarateBC Provincial Championships.
